He has been with the group since 2007 and has overseen the team through the changing post-conflict economic realities and has been instrumental in CAL emerging as a market leader in Equity capital markets and a considerable force in Debt capital markets.

Thowfeek Mohomed Malik was appointed CEO of CAL Securities Limited Bangladesh, bringing extensive experience in capital markets, structured financing, and cross-border investment advisory. He joined the CAL Group in 2021 and previously served in Sri Lanka as Head of Debt Capital Markets at Capital Alliance Partners Limited, where he led key offshore and onshore fundraising initiatives and strengthened the firm’s debt capital markets franchise. Prior to CAL, Malik spent eight years at Dubai Islamic Bank and Mashreq Bank in the UAE, gaining deep expertise in sales, client management, financial structuring, and credit analysis, with a focus on offshore funding for clients across Sri Lanka, Nepal, and Pakistan. Since assuming leadership of CAL Securities in Bangladesh, Malik has been responsible for steering the company’s strategic direction, expanding its market presence, and strengthening its contribution to the development of Bangladesh’s capital markets.

Arafat is the Head of Investment Banking at CAL Bangladesh with over 10 years of experience in the Bangladeshi capital market. He joined CAL in December 2021, following his tenure at Lanka Bangla Investments Ltd., where he held several roles including Head of Investment Banking. Arafat pioneered Transaction Advisory Services in Bangladesh and led the country’s largest on-market transaction. He has advised on numerous FDI repatriations, overseas equity investments, financing arrangements, and M&A deals totaling over BDT 100 billion. He holds a BSc in EEE from KUET and an MBA in Finance from IBA, University of Dhaka.

Omar presently holds the role of Head of Wealth Management at CAL Investments Limited and also leads the research team. Omar brings to the table a wealth of experience and expertise spanning over 12 years in the realm of investment research within the Bangladesh capital market. He joined CAL Bangladesh as Head of Research in November 2021 and played an instrumental role in integrating macro models into CAL Bangladesh’s research methodology to align with the top-down macro approach. In a testament to his leadership abilities and assumed the role of Head of Investment Strategy at CAL Investments Limited, Bangladesh, in 2023 and took on the mantle of portfolio manager for the wealth management wing. He is a CFA charter holder and holds a BBA & MBA in Finance from North South University.
